Florida Writer’s Association has a long history of providing resources and connections to writers. Founded in 2001 as a non-profit, they are an all-volunteer group and have amassed over 1500 members; their ‘writers helping writers’ attitude has inspired and supported many writers to follow their passion.
The Manatee branch is just one of many, and it is thriving. Most of our members have improved their craft and are publishing and winning awards. The critique groups provide writers a chance to expose their work to a test audience of other writers and get opinions and advice from others who are working on the same problems. All experience levels are welcome, from published authors to first time hobbyists.
Critique meetings are held on the first and third Thursday of every month at 6:00 pm and the first and third Saturdays at 4:00 pm at Village Voices 1010 10 Avenue West, Bradenton, FL 34205. Call for more information 941 748-6865.
The new leader of the group is Dave Pearce and he can be reached at gatordave96@gmail.com
There is a monthly newsletter that includes not only information on FWA Manatee meetings, but includes all legitimate known writing groups in Manatee and Sarasota Counties (over 20 groups on subjects ranging from poetry, screenplays, fiction, and non-fiction to marketing). The newsletter also includes promotions of our member’s books, launches, signings, events, and more. If interested contact Dave and he will put you on the monthly email list to receive the current and future monthly editions.
