Joan Peters was born in Paris. She often visited the Louvre and Musee du Jeu de Paume and wished to become an “artist”, but realities led her to study Law and pursue an International Business career which led to a position in the United States.
In the 1980’s, she decided to follow her dream and studied extensively, attending many classes and workshops taught by nationally known artists. Over time, she has developed her own style which she considers eclectic. She loves new subjects, new materials and experiments.
Since moving to Sarasota in 2000, she discovered an affinity for “plein air” painting which takes her to our beaches, parks and picturesque local sites.
In late 2001, she opened the JOAN PETERS GALLERY located in the Village of the Arts in Bradenton, Florida. The Village has become a vibrant artist colony and is said to be the largest in southwest Florida.
You can see many of her pieces and contact her on her web site, http://joanpetersgallery.com/ or on the Village of the Arts website.
